Every year in CTRNS, we take part in Catholic Schools Week. This usually takes place in January or February. For one day of this week, schools celebrate the important role played by grandparents in passing on the faith. The love of a grandparent is to be celebrated and cherished, especially in recent times that saw so many children separated from their grandparents because of the Covid 19 pandemic. For a couple of years we were apart, but now we celebrate being together again.
On Grandparents’ Day, we spend time thinking about our grandparents. We do different activities in each classroom such as making them certificates to show how special they are, writing a letter to them, interviewing them or writing poems together. We hold a whole school mass where we invite the grandparents to pray with us. As every family is different, children can invite their grandparents to the school, plan to visit them, post the certificates, visit their graves or light a candle at home.
