The Raising of the Active Flag
In November, on the same day our Girls football team received their North Cork medals from
members of the Castletownroche Junior Hurling Team, we were honoured to invite them to
help us raise our school’s active flag. We also invited our youngest pupil, Martin Sheehan
and eldest pupil, John O’ Sullivan to raise the flag. Thanks to Miss O’Regan and everyone
else in the school community who encouraged the promotion of physical activity in the
school. We are proud to say we are an active school!

Castletownroche N.S. Girls Football Team win the Sciath na Scol North Cork Girls Football Title
In November, our school’s girls football team made it to the Sciath na Scol North Cork
Girls Football final v Glenahulla N.S, winning in spectacular fashion. Ella Barrett was
captain on the day and accepted the cup on behalf of the team. Thanks to Mr. Bracken for
preparing the team very well. This victory brought great joy to the school community when
they came back with the cup. A few weeks later, we were very lucky to have members of the
County winning Castletownroche Junior B Hurling team to present the girls with their medals.
The Castletownroche Men’s team also brought their own trophies to show to the kids.
The Junior team spoke to our pupils and gave our pupils some encouragement and advice
for their future sporting careers.
